Dr. Assem El-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, said that his ministry is implementing 5,928 housing units (247 buildings) within the second and third phases of the JANNA luxury housing project in Sheikh Zayed City.
The Minister of Housing added that 912 housing units (38 buildings) have been completed in the first phase of the project on the city’s central axis.
This came during the minister’s review of a report on the city’s most important projects during the past year 2020, which included various projects in the city in the housing, services, electricity and utilities sectors, as the minister stressed that Sheikh Zayed City is one of the most attractive cities for investment due to its distinguished geographical location, which is located in the middle of many main axes and roads, in addition to the quality of its climate due to the absence of industrial areas.
Eng. Mustafa Fahmy, Chairman of Sheikh Zayed City Development Authority, pointed out that the electrical supply works, utilities works, and site coordination for the units of the first phase of the JANNA project have been completed, and the units have begun to be delivered to their bookers in May 2020, adding that the building works, interior finishes, and electrical supply works are being implemented, and site coordination works for the buildings of the second phase of the project are being tendered. Regarding the services sector, Eng. Mustafa Fahmy explained that several projects have been completed and are in the process of being completed, including the implementation of two nursery buildings in the 2nd neighborhood in the third district, and at the Nile School, and the completion of the rest of the school buildings is underway with an implementation rate of 87%, at a total cost of 99 million pounds, and the completion of the implementation of the commercial malls and the restaurant building in the entertainment area on Dahshur Link Road, and the outpatient clinic complex at the Central General Hospital, which was opened during the city’s silver jubilee celebrations, and the establishment and installation of the first station for monitoring air pollutants, and the implementation and operation of the internal mass transportation project that includes 10 modern buses, and 5 other buses are being operated that include several lines within the city, and the implementation of the bus waiting area and the garage building in the Egypt Transport Project for 7 high-quality bus lines used for mass transportation in the cities of 6th of October and Sheikh Zayed, and the completion of the implementation of the workshop building in the second regional services area, and the implementation of the new administrative building for the city’s apparatus and the garage, movement, archive and warehouse buildings. The head of the authority added that, as for the utilities sector, the work of replacing and renewing two drinking water lines with diameters of 500 mm and 700 mm on the city’s ring road has been completed, as well as the necessary work to drain rainwater and floods on the road parallel to the Dahshur link road inside the city, and the utility networks for the Jannah (1) project on the central axis, noting that the utility networks feeding the Jannah (2) project are being implemented in the city’s expansions, and the drainage network works to reduce the groundwater level at the site of Dar Misr buildings, phase two, in the second regional services area at a cost of 4 million pounds, and the work of transferring and replacing 1000 m/t of the 900 mm diameter water transmission line with the same diameter outside the Dar Misr project, phase two, at a total cost of 16 million pounds, and implementing the slope line for sewage and rainwater with a length of 500 m.t, in front of the Mostaqbal buildings in the 12th district and connecting it to the public drainage network. He said: In the electricity sector, the work of supplying and installing elevators for the buildings of the Dar Misr project in the first regional services area has been completed at a cost of 9 million pounds, the implementation of the electrical supply network for the Dahshur link road from entrance 4 to entrance 5 has been completed at a cost of 19 million pounds, the electrical supply network work for the Jannah project in the first phase of the central axis has been implemented, and the work of completing the electricity network for the 16th district has been completed at a cost of 23 million pounds. The work of the electricity network for the first sector of the central axis is being completed with a completion rate of 95%, the work of the electricity and communications network for the 7th district has been completed with a completion rate of 90%, the lighting network work for the project of workers abroad in the Beit Al Watan project has been completed with a completion rate of 75%, and the work of the electricity network feeding the most distinguished plots of land has been completed at a cost of 7.4 million pounds and a completion rate of 15%. In the roads sector, the head of the authority indicated that the completion of the implementation of the asphalt layer and pedestrian walkways, and the completion of the curbs in front of the plots of land in the ninth district in full at a cost of 46 million pounds, and the implementation of road development and site coordination works in the first district at a total cost of 27 million pounds with an implementation rate of 65%, and the implementation of the Riviera Road with the city expansions is underway with a length of 3 km, which starts from Al-Nahda Road to the service road path on the Cairo/Alexandria Desert Road at a total cost of 38 million pounds, and the implementation of the Central Axis Road project with the city expansions is underway by Presidential Decree 77 of 2017 with a length of 5.3 km, and an estimated cost of 55 million pounds.
